Kaz the Minotaur Biography

Kaz's the minotaur beginnings

Kaz the Minotaur, also known as Kaziganthi de Orilg, was a onetime slave-soldier to the ogre race during the Third Dragon War. Kaz fought alongside other minotaurs and evil-aligned creatures on the front lines, fighting for the evil divinity Takhisis against the army of good helping Takhisis's counterpart, the god Paladine. That is, until one day when Kaz struck down his cruel ogre leader after finding him over the bodies of an elderly man and children.

Kaz was directly made a prisoner and put under the control of a group of goblins until freed by Huma Dragonbane, a Knight of the Crown. From that instant on, Kaz stayed by Huma's side, becoming his loyal companion and comrade. It was Kaz who, along with Magius, helped Huma retrieve the enchanted dragonlance, who fought alongside him and other Knights of Solamnia astride the bronze dragon Bolt, and who witnessed Huma's last victory over the Dragon Queen, though it led to Huma's demise.

Revisit to Solamnia

Afterwards, Kaz travelled the continent of Ansalon, finding adventure alone and, eventually, with a kender companion named Delbin Knotwillow as he fled his kin, who were chasing him to take him home so that he might answer for the killing of his leader. Yet, it was not long before Kaz found himself back amid the Knights of Solamnia, fighting to exonerate his name among not only his people, but also the Knightood; the latter had falsely accused him of conspiracy, as well as murder. During this time he met up with and fought alongside Tesela, a cleric of Mishakal and Darius, a Knight of the Crown.

Eventually, Kaz discovered the intention for the apparent madness amongst the Knighthood was the arrival of Galan Dracos, dread sorcerer and follower of Takhisis. With the help of his friends, and the power of his new combat axe Honor's Face, the minotaur defeated the sorcerer again this time for good.

Once his quest was fulfilled Kaz had yet another trial. He had to battle Scurn, one of the minotaurs chasing him, in single combat to lastly end their persecution of him. The warrior won that clash, but was attacked again by Molok, an ogre who was kin to the one Kaz killed during the war. Finally liberated of them, he and two other minotaurs, Hecar and Helati (who had never truly believed his guilt) traveled and, eventually, created their own settlement with others of their kind who heard of the trio's exploits and wished to join them.

Back amongst the minotaurs

Years after the newest actions in Solamnia, Kaz had made a home for himself in his new settlement. He and Helati had mated and were now parents. Kaz thought that he had lastly found serenity. However, it was not to be. Kaz, fearing for the wellbeing of his mate's brother Hecar who had traveled to the minotaur island of Mithas and her capital city, Nethasok, made his own way to the city to learn what had happened to the other warrior. Kaziganthi suddenly became entangled in the goings on of the city and, learning that things were not as they seemed, set out to make them right. With the help of friends and acquaintances, as well as his trusty axe Honor's Face, Kaz did precisely that. Consequently, the minotaur was at last able to earn the serenity he had so longed for.

Honor's Face

Honor's Face is a double-edged battle axe fashioned by a Dwarven smith and given to Kaz by Sardal Crystalthorn, an Elven mage. If the axe is abandoned, Kaz can call it into his hands immediately.

The blade will only mirror the images of moral individuals. Honorless individuals will not be able to show their reflection in its exterior. Lastly, the blade is able to restore itself after a time, the extent of time varying with the quantity of damage. But, the beast-man, scorned and hunted, knows,
Without honor there is nothing, not even death. So, driven by the only ghosts that matter, Huma and himself, Kaz alone faces the scourge.
